The Manhattan, St George, Topeka, Wamego, and rural Wabaunsee County areas have been my home for 31 years.  I
was born and raised in Brewster, Kansas, and am a fourth generation Kansan.  In the U.S. Army, I attended Officer
Candidate School and served in the Infantry as a Platoon Leader in Korea.  While stationed there I was wounded
during the Pueblo Naval Ship crisis.  A second enlistment was as a Captain in the Army Veterinary Corps, where I
served as the Post Veterinarian stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

I have been married 47 years to Linda (Mayer) from
Marysville.  We are blessed to have a daughter, son
and daughter-in-law, and two grandsons.  My
degrees are BS, DVM, and PhD, all from KSU.  I
worked in Veterinary private practice, principally with
large animals, and taught at KSU while earning my
PhD in Veterinary Pharmacology/Physiology.  In my
career in Research and Development at Bayer
Animal Health I designed and led research studies
for new animal drugs.  During that time I brought
Baytril®, a drug well known for the treatment of
cattle, onto the market, as well as, led other moved
back to enjoy rural life in Wabaunsee County along
the Kansas River.

I feel called back into the service of my country out of
concern for our Representative Republic, and the
sovereignty of Kansas.  The oath I swore committed
me to uphold the United States and Kansas
Constitutions.  This is an oath that I take very
seriously.  Representing District 51 in the Kansas
House of Representatives is a year round
responsibility.  I respect and appreciate the people of
my District and I consider it an honor and privilege to
serve you.
